Name that space station

I can't recall having seen this hit the forums, so here goes. There's a new wing being added to the space station, and NASA has called for votes as to its name. One of the suggested names is Serenity. It's polling very well, but some guy by the name of Colbert is trying an end run to get it named after him - apparently that's what he does.

I know NASA won't have the same word associations that we do (can't you see Inara doing the decorating?) but I think it would be great.

by colbert i assume you mean stephen colbert?
probably not, but it sounds like something he would do. as for the name, i would call it mjolnir. you know, thor's hammer?
seems to fit, considering its a metallic extension. with superconducter plating to absorb solar radiation more efficiently than current technology...that would be awesome. orbital defense cannons that fire concentrated solar energy!

The Final result is that NASA chose Tranquility as the name for the node, even though it got less than a double digit percentage out of the votes for the suggested names. Serenity got about 72% of the votes for the 4 NASA suggested names, and Colbert got a lot more votes than serenity did, I think it was something like 40,000 more votes, so NASA named a treadmill and/or a toilet after him, I've heard both.

So it's NASA who should get the bird that the rabid hamster is flipping. I fully expected them to ignore any extraneous suggestions, but foolishly I did think they'd go with the highest voted of their own suggestions!

Last year, I saw a Colbert Report on the World Mind Sports Games being held in Beijing, in which he totally botched his pronunciation of Mandarin Chinese, so he has at least one thing in common with the crew of Serenity...
