Crimson Dark Chronology Questions

Questions, queries but not concerns nor querimonies (complaints for those lacking in vocabulary skills) regarding the chronology of this fictional universe. Although there is probably a simple and direct answer to some of these, a little detail would be of use as well for curiousity sake (although disgression will be accepted if it would spoil future events in the webcomic). The cause of the thread is:
Is the webcomic set in the 27th Century our timeline, an alternative one, Or did you just go its set in 27th Century and hope that nobody raised this sort of question?
How detailed is the timeline which leads up to the events in which the webcomics takes part?

The effect of that link is enlightening and the cause for stretching the muscles in my leg so I can place my foot in my mouth. Although it doesn't fully answer the first one, merely removing the last option.

One of my key reasons for setting the story in the 27th century (as opposed to, say, the 22nd) is that it's long enough for not just scientific breakthroughs, but also societal change. I wanted the story to focus entirely on humans, but feature completely new nations and systems of government, and that sort of thing takes time.

Is it set in *our* timeline? Well... no... it's *fiction*. If you mean whether the history of CD branches off from established history at a point *before* present (such as the backstory of the Fallout games), then the answer is no. It assumes that everything that happens today is still part of history.

you should read Robert Heinlein. in it he gives us the idea, that the world we live in is a myth. not secure. and if you travel far enough out, and do some wacky time bending. you can find the worlds that others have created, like Oz, or Tarzan, or anyone's fiction, provided that fiction is Unique, and Original and Powerful enough to stand up in our history to remain in the folklore of ppls minds. and thoughts. so who really knows if your webcomic, isnt making history right now for someone out there right now?!

Agree - Heinlein's Diaspora gives an unlimited richness of societies to play with, assuming a couple of centuries pass during which colonies lose contact for while with the established government and each other. I tend to think that's a lot more likely to happen in 'realworld' than the Star Wars Empire type of widespread yet centrally controlled governmental system. Look at the various empires on Earth - European, Asian, South American doesn't matter. They all grew too far then imploded, breaking up into their disparate cultures again. And there's a fair argument that it wasn't that they outstripped the bounds of what the technology of the day could support - the old British Empire is still crumbling now even though the rot set in hundreds of years ago.

Basically that means all bets are live, and whichever thread our esteemed narrator chooses to show us is equally valid as any other (feeds straight back in to comments on other thread about money-making and second track stories!) So, anyone know any reliable forced maturity cloning operations? We need about 5 more copies of David, pronto!
