Your favourite starships?
Your favourite starships?
The Crimson Dark has plenty of impressive looking starships floating around that have been inspired from some of the best that science fiction have to offer. But I would like to know: what are your favourite starships, and what inspires you most about them?
Mine's a Firefly called Serenity; and Firefly's "run forever -they got a mechanic even half awake".

Re: Your favourite starships?
My favourites:
Star-Trek: Ncc1701-c (probably the most beautiful of the Enterprise ships)
Klingon bird of prey (looks mean, like a hunter should)
Star-Wars: Republic cruiser/ Imperial star destroyer (Has the mean look too)
Imperial shuttle (very cool, and looks like it would work, even with current tech)
2001/2010: Discovery (Looks like an early exploration ship should)
Leonov (Looks like a Russian ship should)
B5: Lots, of which highlights are:
Starfury ( A reminder that in space, you don't need aerodynamics)
Narn war cruiser (Has a nice focussed look that a warship should have)
Shadow ship (Takes the mean and nasty look to a whole new level)
Earth Alliance destroyer (We don't have gravity onboard, and we don't care)
Earth Alliance Cruiser (Nice rotating section for gravity)

Re: Your favourite starships?
Although I love Firefly, I don't actually like the firefly class of ship much - looks too much like a firefly for my suspension of disbelief.
Fighter-wise, the Y-wing is still my favourite 33 yeas on. But my all-time favourite, hmm ... I'm going to have to be boring and go with the Millennium Falcon ...

Re: Your favourite starships?
I've always been a big fan of oddball looking ships. I like the B-wing from starwars, the bubble fighters in the opening of the Lost in Space movie too. (After that, the movie went downhill pretty fast, bottoming out with a CGI chameleon monkey thing...)
The hammerhead cruiser from the KotOR games are pretty cool too.

Re: Your favourite starships?
My favorite is still the B5 starfury. Not just because streamlining isn't needed in space, but also a healthy respect for physics in zero-G. So good a design that NASA officially requested a copy of the 3D model they used for their shots. Yes, a TV show produced a design NASA is considering for use as a tug in their own explorations!
Re: Your favourite starships?
I'll put mine down as the colony ship Ymir from the game "Absolute Zero"
I just loved the sort of simple, rustic style.
Other notables for me are the Terran Battlecruiser from Starcraft and the Daedalus from Stargate.
