Narrow beam transmissions are, as the name suggests, narrow in width, normally focusing on a single target. The narrower the signal, the harder it is to intercept. The strength of the signal affects the distance it can travel before losing coherence. Narrow-width, minimum strength basically means "Make sure no-one else knows that we're chatting".
