Hopefully this page illustrates why Vaegyr turned Niobe's port side to the marauder. With the bridge and living quarters on the starboard side, the main guns to port and a large stabiliser shielding most of the hull, this really is the best profile to present to incoming fire. Oh, those missiles have been sitting on the wings of Kari's Scimitar since the Prologue, so no accusations of "deus ex machina" will be entertained.
