New layout

Post by David » Mon Aug 16, 2010 4:38 pm

I've finally gotten around to redesigning the site, something I've been wanting to do for some time now. Any feedback you have would be greatly appreciated.

Current known issues:

- Nav buttons need an alpha channel so they don't sit in black boxes
- The orange nav bar isn't quite perfectly aligned with the base of the header
- Some subsections (eg: Extras, About etc.) need reformatting to work better with the new background
- The database has yet to be converted to the new layout

*Items in Greenhave been fixed

This might seem like a silly comment but is the comic supposed to be so far down the page? It starts about half way down for me so you can't even see the top. I was starting to wonder where it was!

Hmm, no, it's not meant to be doing that. Which web browser are you using, and what resolution is your screen?

Hmm, well I'm testing it on FF 3.6 for Windows and it works fine, and someone else has confirmed that it works fine using FF on their mac. I've also tested it in Safari on my iPad which runs at 1024x768 and even that didn't break anything. Can you provide any additional information? Are you running the latest version of FF (3.6.8)?

Yeah, sorry to be difficult! I'm running 3.6.8. It is still coming out strange though it comes out ok on my work computer. There is a starry background on the top banner which I don't see on my laptop either.

What happens if you try to view it using a different browser on your laptop (such as Safari)? Sorry to keep bugging you, but I'm trying to eliminate variables :)

It came out half-way down the page for me, too (on google chrome), but it was okay after I refreshed.

It came out half way down the page in Safari too but when I tried refreshing the page in both browsers (like Vile suggested), it now comes out fine. I can see the starry top banner now too. Maybe it was a cache issue on FF? Though not sure how it could be that on Safari because I almost never use it.

Same thing for me. It got fixed after I refreshed (lastest FF and 1024 x 728)
