First i must apologize for not reading your rant tell today.
Im a new reader, started on the 15th of feb. When i found your comic i read it strait threw with no stops for anything. I Love it. I read your rant and nearly cried half way threw. I just found A great comic just to see its end. I was VERY much relieved to read that you will continue. I love this world you have created, I even had dreams about your story. ( A little weird but yea that's how it affected me.) I usually don't read comics that i fall in love with at first site. I want to let you know that i will read your comic for as long as you keep updating. Pardon me as i slow down my hart. ^_^

Now to the page, Is that a ghost or a hologram. I was also wondering if you had any nano-technology in your comic. I know its a growing field of technology today. it has very wide range of aplacations from repairing structures to keeping some one healthy.
A comic that has nano-tech heavily used is (Battle angel alita: last order) for reference.

I'm guessing it's a hologram. The comic thus far has been (fairly) grounded in reality and science. Granted it's science with a heaping helping of fiction and explosions (the best kind of science). It seems that if it was a "real" ghost it would be introduced more subtly then showing up in front of a half dozen people.

Maybe a combination of the two? A ghost in the machine (where a persons brain is mapped onto the computer) interacting through a hologram.

I'm curious about the nano-tech as well. It seems likely given the level of augmentations employed by some characters like Whisper or the Jak from early on. I mean, they have to interface to grey matter somehow, and it would seem that those connections would be immensely difficult to create by hand. On the other hand an army of nano bots could do the work quite efficiently.

Okay, I was trying to hold this guess until Monday, just because, but oh well.
My guess is that it's a hologram (either live or recorded) of Vaegyr's sister or someone else on the Prospero that he knows, which is why he is so surprised in the end of the comic from last week.

I've no guesses whether it's live or recorded, though.

Okay - here's some thoughts:

Maybe it's an über-augmented person?
Maybe it's an Angel
Ghost
A very creative hologram

I would think if it were personal the Captain would recognise it.
"Ya know, she had this pretend friend when she was 4-years-old. That sort of looks like how she she described it"

I think I'd have Whisper jacked into a remote wireless data network, and do a complete diagnostic of the systems after it did a complete internal scan.
