Re: Chap 10, page ~20, character behaviour
I tended to get the strong feeling that Hal was dangerously close to being a loose canon. He'd given indications that with the right inducements he'd turn his back on them pretty easily, at least that's how it seemed to me. I wouldn't call him an insensitive jerk, I'd call him an untrustworthy selfi...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread
I agree, Sapphira clearly planned for this outcome, plus the data that they shared will probably be enough to appease her and most of the syndicate's wrath. You're right though: the Mensk clan won't be part of that group at all, and will see the stealing of the ship as added insult. That could cause...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread
I agree, the reunion was much the way we wanted it to go. I'm going to be very interested to see how the newly-minted Admiral Novosi will handle them, however. On the one hand, they were considered pirates under Cirin law, on the other hand, she clearly felt that they were treated very badly by Admi...

Re: Fontana Station
I'm speculating here, but the advantage I can see to a ring like that is maximizing the number of docking ports.

Re: Movies I have To See
If we can add older movies, I say the BBC miniseries called "Neverwhere" it's a Neil Gaiman project, and that pretty much covers it for me.

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread
I strongly suspect that her predecessor was actually holding back her promotion, given the way he'd been behaving. His attempts to manipulate her by telling her she'd been short-listed were clumsy, though. Probably she needed the Admiral rank to be able to command that station, but it's also possibl...

Re: Movies I have To See
I'm adding my $0.02 long after the fact, but I too mostly enjoyed the visuals for "Tron Legacy" but the story tended to irritate me more than anything else. I also looked once again at the original, and found myself really missing the more overt geekiness of the design. This new one is stylish and e...

Re: What if Crimson Dark was a RPG?
I've not played very many RPG systems (D&D, Dragonquest, GURPS) but I would recommend a close look at GURPS: it's adaptable and has enough ready-made variants that I would think it'd be easy to do everything from starship combat to player skills in one setup.

Re: Your favourite starships?
My favorite is still the B5 starfury. Not just because streamlining isn't needed in space, but also a healthy respect for physics in zero-G. So good a design that NASA officially requested a copy of the 3D model they used for their shots. Yes, a TV show produced a design NASA is considering for use ...

Re: TRON
I found myself captivated at first by the elegance of the style, but over time as the movie progressed I ended up missing the more overtly "geeky" esthetic of the original. I got home and pulled out my DVD and re-watched it. I'm even more convinced that the original is a much better movie. Sure it's...
