Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

The Alliance and the Republic have been officially at war since the start of the comic. Although it seems to be a sort of low-intensity border war - I don't think we've seen any major fleet engagements besides White-Rim and Farhaven. Plausibly both sides are having trouble rebuilding after White-Rim...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

I wonder, is Kari going to do another round of "jump the enemy ship from behind while it chases after Niobe"?

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

That being said, the search space at large distances just becomes extremely large due to the square-root rule. So no matter how powerful their active scanners, at some point a target will only be seen if someone is actively looking just that exact way with a narrow beam scanner. Of course a jump si...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

The Niobids are honestly pretty good at the "sneak up on the target undetected" part of the plan, it's the part where they have to get away cleanly that tends to blow up in their face.

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

I wonder, when David established that Bob was paranoid about wireless interfaces (in literally the fourth page of the comic), did he plan on it becoming a plot point 14 years later?

I'd believe it - it wouldn't be the first webcomic to make a super-long callback - but I'm curious either way.

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

Sapphira is the obvious choice for someone with a super-marauder, but I'll point out that Sapphira is augmented, so she could be infected with Wisdom and it's someone else filling her shoes. One of the remaining Mengsks would be really ironic.

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

Which reminds me, what blew Scar up? A Gerushda-class destroyer, probably. It's not explicitly confirmed - Whisper just says they were hit without warning - but it shows up to attack Kari and co when they're looking for survivors, so the most likely explanation is that it killed the Scar and then h...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

Kari's been through this before.
Kari has been through a lot of ambushes, now that I think about it. Somewhere between three and six, depending on how you count. At this point I'd just start calculating emergency jumps any time I'm in the same system as a derelict ship.

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

The pop-up turrets are cool, but I liked the logic behind Old!Niobe's layout. She had the guns on one side and the living quarters on the other, so she could turn broadside to use both guns while shielding her vital bits.
