Re: Miniatures combat

ah yeah - I've heard good things about that system. I think you get to ignore any one of the three Newton's Laws - kinda interesting take on it. The only way I can imagine the miniatures would be on sticks, like I remember seeing the WW2 / Vietnam fighter jet gamers from waaaaaaaaaay back when. Not ...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

You should do a cost analyst - see what you spend on petrol/bus/train fare each month and compare that to renting/sharing a flat MUCH closer to school.

If it's anywhere near the same in cost, move closer to school and get back 1/6th of your life! (4 hours a day/24 hours = 1/6)

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

Okay, they are the 'actors' - pretty cool. I have an idea to get more time, David. Go to an eight-day week! :) We can call it AugDay (named after the 8th month of the calendar) and you can sleep in til 11 or 12n, eat "brunch", then crank out a new CD! :) re: Your Decision - whatever you have to do I...

Re: Miniatures combat

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railgun & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coilgun It sounds like you are describing a COILGUN, not a RAILGUN. Here's a snippet from Wikipedia: A railgun is a purely electrical gun that accelerates a conductive projectile along a pair of metal rails using the same principles...

Re: Miniatures combat

you have a lot of time to think about this, dont you? railguns are awesome. woo magnetic accelerator cannons :) Well, I've been working on it off and on for a few years. I don't have a lot of free time, but I do enjoy this sort of stuff. On a side note, the railgun round that is shot out comes out ...

Re: Miniatures combat

My normal weapons range is less than a half light second - (150,000 km). That way, targeting data can be acquired in "real time" (well, less than a second) and it's a bit easier on the brain. Missiles could have a range greater than a half-light-second, as they can correct their course. The AI packa...

Re: Miniatures combat

I'm printing out some custom-made graph paper on A2-sized paper, laminate it, and mount it on my office wall. Couple of grease pencils and some reference cards to track the vectors for the ships and I'll be right. Planning on a weapons range device of some sort - either a circular piece of laminated...

Re: Official "Discuss the latest page" thread

So she was a Hologram - cool.

Nice backlighting on the characters from the transfer tube.
And Whisper gets to do stuff!
